ベタ・アルビマルギナータ　

インドネシア北カリマンタン州マリナウ地区に生息するベタの仲間。

赤茶色の体色と、ヒレに入るホワイトのラインが特徴。頭のラインが平らでスリムな印象を受ける。
英名の「Whiteseam Fighter」と名前がつくように、成熟するとオスに綺麗な白い線が入る。飼育に関しては一般のベタと同様でかまわない。

多くのファンを持つベタ。飼育が容易で繁殖も楽しめ、何より色とりどりの体色と、美しくなびくヒレが見るものを魅了する。コンテストやショーも盛んで、現地でも多くの愛好家がいて、ブリードも大々的に行われている。
大きく分けると、ワイルドベタ?、トラディショナルベタ?、プラカット?、ショーベタ?に分かれる。
ワイルドとは現地で生息する原種。
トラディショナルベタとはスプレンデンスグループの改良種。
プラカットとはトラディショナルグループの改良品種の中でも闘魚と呼ばれる賭けの対象として戦うことを専門に改良された種。
ショーベタとは明確な区分は無いが、ヒレの形などがショーで区分されて確立されているものを指す。
まるで金魚のように、愛好家たちが品種を改良していている。これからも多くの美しい種が生み出されることだろう。

餌		人工飼料、冷凍飼料、活餌。綺麗な色揚げを狙うなら、冷凍赤虫やイトミミズ、ミジンコ、ブラインシュリンプを組み合わせてあげよう。口が小さいので細かくしてあげよう。

避けたほうがよいもの		止水域に生息していることと、長いヒレに改良されているので泳ぎが苦手で、水流を生むものを嫌う。オスの泡巣を消してしまうおそれがあるので、エアレーションやファンとの相性も悪い。

特徴・飼育上の注意　

ベタ・スプレンデンスに準ずる。
水質に関しては適応範囲も広く容易だ。ラビリンス器官と呼ばれる呼吸器官で水面から呼吸可能で、フィルターのないビンで飼育できることも知られている。しかしビンではあまり良い環境とは言えず、20cm程度のプラケースでもいいので用意してあげよう。特にヒレが長く伸びるショーベタなどは綺麗にフレアリング?させるためにもある程度の水槽の高さが欲しい。ヒレをきれいに成長させるためにもオス同士をケース越しに近づけたり、鏡を使ってフレアリング?させよう。（ずっとし続けると疲れてしまうので10分程度で十分）
現地では弱酸性のブラックウォーターで生息しているのでマジックリーフ?で人工的に似た環境を作ってあげると病気の予防やヒレの保護に良い。水換え時にひとつまみの塩を加えてあげることでもビレの保護になる。
その強い適応範囲とこなれた水が良いことから、水換えを極力しないといった飼育法もある。しかしそれでは管理が難しく、水カビ病?の発生にもつながるので、フィルターがある場合は週に一度、ない場合は3日に一度、半分程度の水換えをしたほうがいい。
